چکیده

Fetal magnetocardiography allows the noninvasive registration of the prenatal cardiac electrophysiological signal. The good signal-to-noise characteristics of most biomagnetometers combined with adequate signal processing techniques generally permit the identification of the fetal deand repolarization onsets and offsets to an accuracy of 1 ms. The P wave, QRS complex and sometimes the T wave can thus be determined in the second and third trimester of pregnancy. A number of studies have shown that fetal cardiac time intervals change systematically during pregnancy [1-5] (see also Fig.1). It is presumed that these changes are primarily due to fetal growth and maturation. It follows that in pregnancies in which the fetal growth is slowed, this might be reflected in the duration of the cardiac time intervals. The aim of this study was to examine the duration of the cardiac time intervals, as assessed by fetal magnetocardiography, in intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR). The intervals of a large group of normal singleton pregnancies were used as a control. The intervals obtained from several twin fetuses were used to examine a particular group at risk.

Tumor necrosis factor alpha partially contributes to lipopolysaccharide-induced intra-uterine fetal growth restriction and skeletal development retardation in mice.

Maternal infection is a cause of adverse developmental outcomes. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced embryonic resorption, intra-uterine fetal death (IUFD) and preterm labor have been well characterized. In the present study, we investigated the effects of maternal LPS exposure on intra-uterine fetal growth and skeletal development. All pregnant mice except controls received an intraperitoneal inj...

Assessment of Fetal Autonomic Nervous System Activity by Fetal Magnetocardiography: Comparison of Normal Pregnancy and Intrauterine Growth Restriction

OBJECTIVE To clarify the developmental activity of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) of the normal fetus and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) cases using fetal magnetocardiography (FMCG). SUBJECTS AND METHODS Normal pregnancy (n = 35) and IUGR (n = 12) cases at 28-39 and 32-37 weeks of gestation, respectively, were included in this study. The R-R interval variability was used to calcul...

I-46: Obstetrical Doppler

Accurate assessment of gestational age, fetal growth, and the detection of fetal and placental abnormalities are major benefits of sonography. Color Doppler can be used to assist in the identification of vascular architecture, detection of vascular pathology and visualization of blood flow changes associated with physiologic processes and disease states. The clinical applications of obstetrical...

Children born with intra-uterine growth retardation (IUGR) or small for gestational age (SGA): long term growth and metabolic consequences.

Intra Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR) refers to insufficient fetal growth diagnosed either by two direct intrauterine growth assessment (ultra-sonography) or when the fetus or newborn length (height) is less than two standard deviations (or third percentile) below the mean for gestational age (NIKLASSON et. al. 1991; DE ZEGLER 1997). When the fetus or newborn body size (wight or length) is in...

Sildenafil Citrate in Fetal Growth Restriction

BACKGROUND Pregnancies with early onset fetal growth restriction have poor perinatal outcome. Sildenafil citrate (PDE -5 inhibitor) as a vasodilator increases utero-placental blood flow and potentiates fetal growth. CASE PRESENTATION In this study, a case was examined and Sildenafil was administered for her. It was found that Sildenafil improved the uterine blood flow with a favorable fetal o...
